Today we did Crock Pot Kalua Pork. Normally when we slow cook pork, we do it in the oven, but this was significantly easier. On a scale of one to ten (ten being impossible) this was a .5. You literally cannot mess this up.
- I decided to add onions to the crock pot after about 2 hours of cooking.
- We did not have 16 hours, and we did not need it. At about hour 6 the pork fell apart, when we ate it, it had been cooking for 10 hours.
- We made a BBQ sauce out of honey dijon, ketchup, worcestershire, balsamic vinegar, salt, cayenne, roasted garlic and mesquite seasoning. No measurements for this one, just throw some stuff in and see how it comes out.
How was it?
Really good. I would not, however, call it kalua pork. We made it more BBQ (since we already had one meal not fit our palette). Also, we determined that the lettuce was unnecessary after one wrap. I assume it was the creator trying to make this dish healthier. We just felt like it was out of place.
Things We Would Change
- If we had calories to spare, we would put this on a baked potato.
